Perspectives Defined in Analysis Cube not working in Report Builder

I have created a simple cube in BI Studio against an Oracle Relational Data Warehouse. In this cube I have created a perspective in which I have selected (included) only a small subset of measures and dimension. When I view this perspective on the Browse Tab of BI Studio, only the entities that were included in the perspective were available for report construction as was expected.

Next, I generated a model for this cube in Report Manager. Now here is the problem, I then opended the model in Report Builder and selected the same perspective from above, but all of the Entities in the cube were displayed including the fields I explicitely did not include in the perspective. I then looked at the .smdl file describing the Model and it looked like in the Perspective description section all of the cube's entities were included, even the ones that should not have been included. It seems as if the problem is ocurring durring the model generation. I also tried generating the model in Management Studio and it seems to be doing the same thing.

Any ideas on how to fix this? Could I be doing something wrong(probably)? I have to give a presentation soon and this is a big deal for the Project Stakeholders.

By the way, I am using the 180 Day Evaluation of Sql Server 2005 with SP2 CTP installed.

Help!!!!

Certainly the perspective in the Report Model should reflect the definition in the cube.

Does this apply to all the perspectives in the cube, if you define multiple of them?

|||Sorry for my delayed response. The answer to your question is yes, my previous message applied to all of the perspectives in the cube. And I have had the same problem on multiple cubes.|||I have the same problem. You already know a solution?

Permissions system_function_schema

Hi all,
I have user defined functions in master databases such as
system_function_schema.fn_chariswhitespace
As default this kind of functions have a public permissions for EXEC, but I
want to remove this
When I execute the sentece
REVOKE EXEC ON system_function_schema.fn_chariswhitespace TO PUBLIC
I got nex error
Server: Msg 208, Level 16, State 11, Line 1
Invalid object name 'system_function_schema.fn_chariswhitespace'.
I have SQL Server 2000 64 bits.
Can anybody help me?
Thanks in advance,
Javier RosasHi,
You are using an undocumented/unsupported featured. The
system_function_schema doesn't exist in SQL 2005 and you will have
difficulties upgrading your code.
I recommend you abandon use of the system_function_schema

Permissions Question For SQL Login Account

I have a SQL login account defined with DBO permissions on a particular
database. When this login attempts to run the sp_updatestats stored
procedure, the following error occurs: "User does not have permission to
perform this action." According to BOL, the DBO has permissions to execute
this stored procedure. Any help would be appreciated.

Run this code (from sp_updatestats) and see what it returns. If it fails
then the user is not a sysadmin and not the dbo in the database. There
is only one dbo per database (they cannot be aliased as dbo I don't
think):
DECLARE @.dbsid varbinary(85)
SELECT @.dbsid = sid
FROM master.dbo.sysdatabases
WHERE name = db_name()
select @.dbsid
select suser_sid()
/*Check the user sysadmin*/
IF NOT is_srvrolemember('sysadmin') = 1 AND suser_sid() <> @.dbsid
BEGIN
RAISERROR(15247,-1,-1)
RETURN (1)
END

Note that db_owner role members are not *the* 'dbo'. The database owner is
the login that owns the database.
Hope this helps.

Permission to execute Stored Procedure

Which fixed database role allows a user to execute a user defined stored procedure while minimizing the amount of permissions given. I think db_Datareader will do the trick.Sorry, but db_datareader doesn't have permission to execute ANY stored procedures, although they can read any table or view (more accurately, db_datareaders has SELECT permissions on every object in the database).

The only group that has execute permissions on all of the objects in a database is db_owner. That's WAY too big a hammer to swing without considerable forethought, since it gives the user the "keys to the kingdom" as far as that database is concerned. They can do anything they please with any object in the database, which is a lot more than what you probably intended.

One crude way to work around this might be to create a db_runner group within your database, and schedule a job to grant permission to that group to execute every procedure and function in your database. You could run the job every few minutes, and get 99% of what you are looking for, and you could also exclude objects within your GRANT script if you see fit.
