I'm using Access 2003 and sql 2000. I have a phone data table that has
permissions set for a Users group and a Cell group.
I have created a view for Cell numbers and I want only the Cell group to
access. I've given the Cell group Select permission. But I can't keep the
Users group from accessing the Cell numbers. I've tried to place an X in
Select for the Users group but then no one has access. If I don't do anythin
g
with the Users group then everyone can access the Cell numbers.
Can anyone help with the permission problem?
Thanks,
PaulI'm assuming that the CELL group is also part of the Users group.
If the Users group has permission to SELECT the table, then you cannot
prohibit them from being able to access the Cell Numbers.
One option is to Create a View for the table (without the Cell Numbers),
grant Permission to the Users Group to SELECT from this new view.
Then REMOVE all permissions from the table.

d
without the cell numbers. I've set the users group to have Select permission
to the views except the Cell view.
If I set the Select permissions to the Cell view for the Cell group and do
not give or deny permissions to the users group the users group still have
access.
If I place an X in the users group for the Cell view then no one has access.
I thought that if permission wasn't given or denied a group or individual
couldn't gain access.
Have any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks for the help,
Paul

access to the Table, there is no way to limit the User group from accessing
the cell numbers.
